Thanks for the bug report derpyderp. Would you be able to post a screenshot of this bug in action? I haven't been able to reproduce it.

Wish I could Farbs, but I've had my ass handed to me since.. I'll try and see if I can remember the setup and get my hands on some uniboosters. From what I recall it happened only to the ones quite far away from my command module EDIT: Realized I had posted screenshots of it elsewhere Piloting this at the moment I've wiped out three Juliet ships in a few seconds by spinning around and holding space I believe it was around that that I saw some of the wrong thrusters firing. It happens when spinning with A or D held only, and it will only occur for some of the outer uniboosters

I have also had several problems with CJ5 loading in both IE & FF. I could not launch from the dock the first time I played CJ5 (in FF). I got to vmeds, but nothing happened when pressing F2 to launch. It loaded in Chrome just fine 2 minutes later.
Currently, I can not get CJ5.major to load in IE. The first loading bar fills, then a blank screen and no vmeds. The funny part is that I have no problems with CJ5.minor & the deafault map in the same browser on the same machine.

I've found that it is pretty difficult to play CJ offline. Just saving the page, or the swf, doesn't work. You have to trick it into some sort of verification, I think. Makes me wonder just what makes CJ tick.

hi,
am I the only one who has big difficulty playing all of the captain series because of the extreme lag even with low graphics? I love the games, but for $9 it would be great if they were a bit more playable. Have a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.7.2, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT Graphic and 4 GB Ram and tested the game on Safari and Firefox browsers, newest versions - same problem.
Like one or two years ago the game was much smoother. Any ideas?

Docking every once in a while helps with the lag. Check to see what other programs you have running. I use an old PowerBook G4 with OSX 10.5.8, 1.5 Ghz PowerPC G4 chip, and 512 memory. My shit is old, but I make the best of it. Learn yourself some process management.

Major idea here folks. I was viewing another thread about how cookie wipes cleared your CPTJAMESON data. So, I copied the data in the folder, and put it with other ships and named them accordingly to the save info.
Will it work if I place the save data in the folder, after one of my ships was killed, as a backup? If so, this game is now my favorite time sink.

yes it does work, I always save (back up the data files) before trying somethings risky.

I've just fame a cross a bug.
When using a bubble sheild (juliet). Often then trying to fit a module. The module will force the ship to move.

Not sure what if this is a bug, or something I did but...
I started the game yesterday, flew around the initial mojave station zone, went to the war.mojaveport.gove station and got the initial parts that made your ship a little worthy. After that, I spent a few minutes just flying around and getting used to the game. I then shut the game off before docking or doing any type of save
Today, I tried starting a new game. Everything worked fine until I got to the war space station. There were no modules to claim and so I had to start off with just my command module.
Is this a bug or am I technically playing the first game still. If so, how would I reset everything?
Thanks. This is a pretty fun little setup you have here.

This is a cpt. forever bug, but... following marisa's link down in the chat (http://tinyurl.com/7f8hrc6), I get greeted with this. The mouse is hovering over a large amount of invisible blurst shields. Also, there are 4 visible and a few more invisible command modules.

So wait, if my browser crashes or reloads, even if I've been docking regularly, I lose EVERYTHING? Fix This

Oh. But it keeps my map. That's almost insulting.

Hey,
Browser crashes are a huge pain. I recommend not using Chrome as it seems to crash flash quite often.
What you lose in this circumstance is your current ship and any unbanked credits. On the other hand any stations you've rescued stay rescued, and all banked credits and modules stored in warehouses are kept. It's basically the same as if your ship had been destroyed, since the game can't distinguish between someone trying to cheat their way back to a previous save to recover losses and an actual crash.
It seems like you've lost a lot, since the ship is your primary measure of progress, however I usually find that after I lose a ship I get back to where I was in just a few minutes. After all, you're following the same progression as in Captain Forever or Successor, and in those cases an entire game only takes a few minutes.

So those links to the bonus sectors... Are they actually supposed to load anything? I'd like to try out the other two sectors.
Thoughts: 1) I hit a glitch apparently where I got stuck inside a bank's shields (after they were... um... depleted, and so forth), everything blurred out like I was on autopilot, couldn't move. Odd.
2) Man, redesigning is frustrating. Mostly, when you grab the wrong (interior) piece and end up having to snap everything back together. Some sort of undo button maybe, that would let you sit back and watch the pieces fly back on?
3) The menu keys should be easier to use - why not use wasd? Space to accept? It would make using the warehouse and upgrade facilities much faster.
4) Chronos stack and it's abusive. Just saying, put like 10 of these in a row and watch the lasers fly. Maybe they should only work on the adjacent units. But then I'd up the power a little.
5) Plank shields should probably be wider than bubble shields to keep them useful at all.
6) I would find useful a T piece, essentially that snaps on in the middle rather than at the endpoint. Or the ability to do that with long pieces in general.
7) I can't tell which end a blurst shield connects to, can make designing confusing.
8) The color flicker thing is interesting but makes designing slower (What kind of engines did I put there? Wait for it to flash...) Toggle-able option?
Thanks! Great game, it has stolen many hours from me...

It loaded this time *shrug* Guess I had to close the browser to make it load the bonus sector.

this probably isn't a bug, but it really sucks when you are right next to a station, have Juliet level stuff, and your oxygen is low but your thinking hey" I'm right next to the station so I'm safe" ( i had just undocked and there had been a ton of Juliets, and i already had some Juliet parts to they were easy pickens ) but i wasn't paying attention so i guess it is partly my fault but any way, i had 2 oxygen left. i began rushing over to the station, and i was right next to the bubble when the oxygen ran out. naturally, the screen began to blur and then my character darkened. then because my ship still had momentum, he was in the bubble, and the ship's lights came back on. i was like WOOHOO, my ship lives!!!! but the screen stayed blurry, and eventually the screen changed to the network with the message about being a dead head. I just am thinking that wouldn't be nice if we had enough momentum to get into the bubble before the network that our ship would come back to life? In real life we can hold our breaths, so maybe if we get lucky, we can be like yay??

At location [+187x -209y] there is a station defender, which is stuck in a station. It makes game to hang each time when my ship approach/attacks defender.
