I've been playing and enjoying a lot of Captain Jameson, but I find that the display of connectivity and damage don't look as nice as Captain Successor.
The grey colour of non-highlighted components especially bad in screenshots, but I find that it generally makes large ships look too flickery. I would really like to see the Captain Successor colour handling come back, where components are always coloured, and the hierarchical pulsing is over-bright.
The shakiness for damage gets really distracting, especially when you get into the later classes where components can still take a fair bit of damage after they are shaking a lot. I would like to see a return to the Captain Successor damage indication, which was subtle but still noticeable when assessing your ship. Alternately, perhaps desaturation could be used to indicate damage? Or maybe flickering desaturation.

Does anyone else have an opinion on this? Very few people have mentioned it, and I was starting to wonder if anyone had even noticed! I would like to see a return to the Captain Successor damage indication, which was subtle but still noticeable when assessing your ship. Hmm. I didn't think I'd changed this. Are you sure it's different?

Hmm. I didn't think I'd changed this. Are you sure it's different? Quite sure. In Jameson, damaged modules flicker and jitter around. In Successor, they only flicker.

Right you are.
I think I added this because the flickering wasn't sufficiently obvious to me. If people are generally of the opinion that I should remove it though then I'd be happy to do so. Would anyone else like to chime in about it?

Im okay with it, although I think the shaking could be slightly less violent.

I don't mind the shaking or the colours at all. Although the greyness did bug me for a little while at the beginning, I quickly came to enjoy the new graphical style. I wouldn't change it back it your position, but if you did I wouldn't be heartbroken - both styles are great.

I really like the jittering. It's a very strong indicator, and I think it's a great visual effect, too - not too subtle and not too distracting.

Personally, a good solution for this would be to give repair stations are function to select the most damaged piece you have. Then you could find which pieces needed repair the most.

Another feature that would be nice for Repair Station is a 'Repair all' button. This way, if you've got plenty of cash and lots of damaged modules, you just have to hit one button rather than hunt through your entire ship for damage.

Sorry to resurrect this, but i can't stand the flickering colours of Jameson's modules, i mean the gray-green or gray-yellow cycling. I hunted the config for an option to turn it off but couldn't find one. I really miss the solid Successor colours. If anything, i think this should really be a configurable option. I mean, it literally hurts my eyes and i can't play for long, as opposed to Successor.

I agree with Tazin that the blinking colors are annoying if only because I have to wait for a new "blink" to identify the grade of a module. Perhaps make the modules hold their color a bit longer when they blink? Or instead of them going grey have them show an slightly unsaturated version of their color? That way you can tell what grade they are even when they aren't blinking their full color? I enjoy the graphic "style" of the blinking, it just makes things harder I guess.
However, I really think the shaking of damaged modules is very helpful. I found myself in Successor not noticing the damage, but there is no mistaking it in Jameson.

i also think the blinking is a bit much especialy when you have acquired a lot of parts and a large ship kinda resembles some sort of light show a constantly glow is more than sufficient i think maybe a slight pulse at the most.
As for damaged parts i do think they shake a little bit too much when heavily damaged although it does make me want to get rid of them or replace them, Maybe just have lightly damaged parts put out the occasional spark, fairly damaged parts as sparking more frequently and heavily damaged parts shaking a little and sparks being emitted.

Shaking should be kept in here, no matter the game. 'Nuff said.
