Just asking for a status update on Captain Jameson v0.6 / v1.0 / beta / final-gold-release-super-rockin'-now-with-more-bacon-edition. The last blog update was three months ago (late October), and the latest version is almost five months old (mid-September). Just curious whether development is active, delayed, or shelved. Any answer is fine - really just trying to set my blog-checking frequency appropriately. Thanks.

Hey,
I've been meaning to blog about this for a while. Right now I'm experimenting with taking CF et al out of the browser. I have a native windows build of the original CF running, but unfortunately the gfx libs can't handle some of the glowy lighting effects so I need to do a fair bit of work to get that up to speed.
Non-browser versions of the games should run significantly faster, and be playable in full screen at native resolution. I don't want to make promises that I can't keep, but it's worth noting that native code can access other features of a machine like, say, low level networking. Cough.

I thought I read something about low-level networking there - twice - but I'm sure I didn't.
Will the full-screen version be for supporters only?

I read something about low level networking and passed out.
Fullscreen would be utterly delicious.

any chance of a new update?
Also, any chance of linux/mac compatibility?

A whole bunch of personal stuff have slowed development for the next little while, but I should be back to it soon.
The tech I'm looking at for that stuff is all linux and mac compatible, but it might take me a little longer to get those builds out. I finally own a mac now which should help a bit.
I'm also probably going to work on CJ still in flash for a while at the same time. I've had a lot of time to think about it lately and have a few ideas I want to work on.

A whole bunch of personal stuff have slowed development for the next little while, but I should be back to it soon. It happens. No worries. Glad to see something from you. I'm also probably going to work on CJ still in flash for a while at the same time. I've had a lot of time to think about it lately and have a few ideas I want to work on. That's a good idea. In my own life, when I find myself stalled (for personal or technical reasons), I find it helpful to just finish SOMETHING - maybe the smallest, easiest thing that comes to mind. For software, that often means a small, incremental release that just fixes a few bugs and adds a small, cute feature. I find it important to differentiate between the big, ambitious ideas that are kicking around my head, and my available energy and focus that I can apply to something *today*, you know? I finally own a mac now which should help a bit. Interesting coincidence. I jumped into the Mac world with both feet last October (after 22 years as a Microsoft diehard!), and I spent the weekend sharpening up my Objective-C and Core Foundation skills for some coding of my own.

Ah, I'm curious, Java? or one of the many cross platform libraries? Also, I'd be happy to do anything I can to help expedite the Linux side of things, though I'm still pretty new at it; I'm still trying to figure things out. So I'm not sure how much help I'd actually be. I'm also probably going to work on CJ still in flash for a while at the same time. I've had a lot of time to think about it lately and have a few ideas I want to work on. I'm hoping this means we'll have 0.6 within the next several months?

Working in HaXe for the cross platform stuff. It's super cool.
I would also like to have 0.6 out in the next few months. I would like that an awful lot!

A native version of this game would be amazing O.O. I don't know if you'd be cool with it but you could totally sell Jameson on Steam if you did this, and Jameson is better than half the indie games on there, even in it's alpha state. I would bet you'd make some serious money, which I'm guessing would help with development XD

Um, this, is old. Still fun to read old convo's, though.
