One of the most frustrating thing about using modules like blurst shields is that they, like all other types of modules, can only be attached at the end. With higher class modules comes longer pieces and therefore makes construction more cumbersome depending on what someone is trying to accomplish with ship design.
It would be nice to have gridders/truss/blurst shields that have alternate points of connection. The ability to take a truss that is 5 units long and attach it via the middle instead of the end would open more options for ship construction.
What do you guys think?

Hmm, or, as an alternative, you can weld as long as there is at least one "end" face. So your idea could work, except you couldn't weld the middle of a truss to a middle of a truss.

I mainly want this for the specific use of blurst shields. Blurst shields are rather heavy and to maximize their use I have to have only blurst shields exposed. The ability to attach the blurst on the side instead of the end would allow for fewer of them needed for efficient protection.
I like the idea of a "welding" option. The ability to change the spot where a truss/gridder/blurst module attaches could be added for the repair stations. Place one of the modules in the highlighted area and a diagram comes up as with other station read out. Then you can choose a new spot where you want to weld on the attachment point.

Yeah, it would give much more flexibility!
