Playing the Jameson alpha has made me think back to my very first impressions of captain forever: how it felt to be dropped into this dark and neon world of slightly nutty characters muttering about symmetry or bustling about like they had a purpose in life.
The regretful, despairing tone of the introductory readme.txt made me very cautious about fighting at first. That and the threats and pleas from the other ships strengthened the impression of a whole world of trade routes and clans and alliances that i was blundering around in ignorance, not knowing who's toes i was unjustly vaporising.
With further play my appreciation of combat and building grew, but the story wore thin and less and less i thought of the other ships as living beings to feel guilty about destroying.
Anyone else?

I found CptForever off Pointlesssites ( ) It was such an awesome and original game, I fell in love with it and supported Farbs almost straight away: I had to have more. This game can actually get to you... the subtle storyline is stronger than you think.

Oh, i love it too. What i'm trying to say is that i hope my impressions of a living world will become a bit more true in Jameson.

A guy at school told me about CF. We both play Dwarf Fortress, and we started discussing Indie games. He showed me the game and I was hooked. Attack. Build. Run. Attack. Build. Attack. Build. Install self-destruct mechanism. Count how many peacekeepers I can kill before my self-destruct get to me.
