Hey up! I was gathering massive amounts of materials in Captain Jameson so I could sell them for fortunes. I was firing my two Delta snipe lasers and my Echo torpedo launcher at this massive rock, until I figured I wanted to try to ram the rocks with Echo leveled ramming spikes. On my bucket-shaped ship I fastened the two ramming spikes on each of the edges, and accelerated towards the asteroid. It completely vaporized, leaving tons of rocks and materials in open space -- I even found some Silicates! I rammed another asteroid, and broken it was after just one hit. The asteroids were rather large as well. Here's the ship: (Upgraded it a bit, so it might not seem so bucket-shaped anymore) !Press the pictures for description!thyperez.tumblr.com/post/72242723103/try-this-yourself-its-extremely-helpful-i-tellYou can also use this technique to drill through asteroids fields. Try it, and you'll see. Just thought I'd share this with the community, though I'm not sure if it has been mentioned before. However, a nifty trick it is, indeed! --- Thank you for reading. - Cpt. Once you have Foxtrot-tier rammers, you can destroy the largest asteroids in at most, two strikes.

I don't know what kinds of asteroids you have in your assigned sector, but here in Haynesport they appear to be made of tougher stuff. I managed to procure a Ramming Spike Foxtrot, and all it did was keep bouncing off of the asteroids, even smaller ones. Forget this; Juliets are the way to go. Viking's Rest for the win!
So, is there something else you need to do as well?

I think the mechanic is different in 0.6.1 - I don't think it works in 0.5
