First off greetings, I just finished killing every guardian in captain jameson 5.1 So I decided I would bring a few of my thoughts to the community.
I'd like to see a safety on/off switch so i don't accidentally rip a piece off in mid flight and scatter my precious parts to the four corners of space.
Perhaps a way to lock parts so if you take off a part with others attached, they all stay together and can be grabbed and reattached as one whole piece.
Id love to see some variety/customization options, like a station that can put letters/designs on the girders maybe. Or even give them a different look. Maybe a ship covered in little circuits, or an organic-like substance, or just armor plating even.
A way to set up firing groups, so say i can assign all forward facing guns to one button (lets say 1) and all right facing to another (lets say 2), going off that, i can assign just one of the forward guns to 3. This allows me to have the option of picking ships i like apart, or just overwhelming it with firepower without having to move guns around all the time.
Emergency air button. Like if i realize im about to lose my air i can press a button to disable all shields and all weapons to cause air to last twice as long or something. As if I diverted all power to life support. Likewise an emergency ___ button which boosts power to other systems and reduces it to others.
Lastly, zooming, I would like the maximum zoom to be further so when piloting a giant ship i can see further. (see below for part idea)
Now for parts
Navigation piece, looks like a dish. Can map out the surrounding area like a nav station, or maybe allows you to zoom out further and further.
What if there was a module you can purchase that is basically a dumbed down command module. It is 2x1 and can detach 1 of the 2 blocks (at a click or assigned button push) and becomes an ai controlled ship that fights any threats in the area, This 1 block that detaches can have parts attached that do not respond to normal weapon firing commands but detaches with the mini command block and serves as the command module of the ally ai ship. If it explodes you must repair it at a repair station to get the command module back. This also allows for maybe mercenary station that sell little fighters to fly around with you.
A girder that accelerates the shots fired parallel to it. Allowing you to build railgun style ships that fire torpedoes/lasers/whatever at much faster speeds. Not necessarily making it do more damage but allowing the speed of the projectile to go much faster the longer it travels parallel to the girder.
A magnet that attracts asteroid pieces that are orange or white, or maybe different ones for each type.
a DOOR! like a girder that retracts or folds out to allow me to open a hatch and collect asteroids, and then close it again.
Changes to the current system
O2 is an issue alot of the time. If nothing else is done as far as parts or utilities go, perhaps simply making it last longer, as i feel it doesn't nearly last long enough
The Ai seems pretty smart but i think they should have a bit more tactics when it comes to each other. Flanking, strafing runs, etc...
