I would like to request a feature: When you disconnect without returning to a station, it would be awesome if you could just re-spawn in the ship you last docked with, rather than losing your ship and having to start over. Perhaps this could be a toggle or something. The reason is thus: I'm running Firefox and Flash has been having some difficulties lately with it's recent updates. Namely it crashes every so often. Not frequently, but every so often. The result is that I will be making progress with a ship, perhaps having put in many hours of work (I tend to be a very careful player and take things slowly.) Then flash crashes. doesn't matter if I had returned to dock many times, or how careful I had been, my ship is gone, and I'm back to the starting module. This makes me a very sad panda :/ The problem is that there is no preventive measure I can take to stop from losing everything, I would have to luck out and literally be in dock when flash crashed to not lose everything. This absolutely ruins the game. I don't care if I lose my ship when I run out of oxy or die to another ship, cause those are my fault. It is absolutely infuriating to lose your ship to a game crash, to the point where I don't even want to play anymore. Please add this feature, it would mean a lot to me, and I'm sure anyone else who has been having crash issues Thanks, Zat

Farbs is working on an alternative. If you have a bit of technical skill you can backup your savegames in case of accidents. ~Cpt. Darkond

How would one go about doing this? Well, consider this: When you dock, save, and shut down your browser and computer, your data is saved; and when you fire your browser back up and reconnect to the Captain Jameson alpha, your ship reappears. Your ship data must be stored somewhere persistent in the interim, right? Where is it stored? Does it happen on the Captain Jameson application server? Have you noticed that after initially loading the Captain Jameson alpha into your browser, your computer uses almost no bandwidth? It's true - the app doesn't communicate with the Captain Jameson server *at all* while running. You can prove this by disconnecting your computer from your network, and *then* docking, saving, and shutting down your computer. When you start back up, Captain Jameson reloads your ship... but it can't have gotten it from the server, because it wasn't communicating with the server when you saved, right? The ship data is stored locally as a browser cookie. If you dock, save, and then back up your cookies associated with the captainforever.com domain in your browser cookie cache, you can re-inject the cookies back into the cookie cache to return to that save point whenever you want.

The information is stored locally on your computer. Pull up your start menu and in the search bar type in %appdata% then hit enter. Now you have follow the following sequence. Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\N288DNW2\farbsfarbsfarbs.appspot.com\files This should be the location of your saves. Copping the appropriate files into another location gives you a nice little back up system.
