Oh my god did I cack myself. The new interference effect is way too overpowering. Much more so than even the 0.1 effect. I have so far fought only one guardian in 0.5 and I can say in all honesty that I do not want to go through that a hundred more times throughout the game.
Please oh please re-enstate the old guardian interference effect, Farbs. It was so wonderful.

The effect is far too strong, and has the tendency to obscure what's going on. This makes it very aggravating, and adds an unwarranted level of difficulty to fighting guardians.
It needs to be toned down. Perhaps if it were spots of static, it wouldn't be nearly so bad.

Darnit. Any more opinions on this? I added this effect because people complained so much about the last one

I think it's cool, but far too frequent. My last battle, I barely got to see the ship I was facing.

Its a little too in-your-face, and blotting-out-the-sun. Maybe tone it down a little.

I have one word to say about this: Seizure. Seriously, you're going to kill someone.
I suggest maybe adding a lot of random characters around the screen edge, similar to the 'garble' effect you have in the TELNET. Maybe even have it mess up our display so we can't read the coordinates properly or know how much OXY we have left -- It would be interesting to flee from a fight and realize you're worse than dead -- you're LOST!
Just, don't make it flash... The game has enough of that already.

Okay, I've toned it down considerably. Thoughts?

I think you also broke my save for .5, but it's a lot better now. I think it could be toned a little more while you're far from the Guardian, but the way it is now is a big improvement over what it originally was.

Still too strong man. The static being totally opaque is just too overpowering and distracting. Since it's something that you will see so many times throughout the gamespan it quickly becomes something I can't stand.

As I posted in another thread, the effect is still WAY too strong. It's distracting and actually hurts my eyes after even one battle. Please make an option to turn it off...

What do you guys think of tmu's idea?
tmu: How about having an interference effect that causes model poly count reduction at random as if vector data were lost or scrambled (like zooming in to an autocad drawing before a regen command, if anybody is familiar with how that looks) tmu: would make the objects look more crude in brief flashes before 'regenerating' to full poly models, wouldn't be as distracting as superimposed static effects, but harder to see and reconfigure one's own modules when they would be reduced to triangles (at minimum) at random tmu: as well as when clicking on one's own modules (or others), some text would be scrambled or missing at random tmu: also, level of interference correlating by distance to guardian tmu: like simulating data transmission interference to a vector based terminal display device, vector points and plaintext dropped
ALL CREDIT GOES TO TMU.
I like the idea!

I like the idea myself, and it seems more thematic than the static effect that's currently in the game.
However, that's just my two cents.

I really can't imagine what that would look like.

In short, the quality severely drops and most display elements and the ui start malfunctioning. This is to emulate the remote terminal receiving 'corrupt' data links, rather than just a complete static effect.
From what i gather, what we see is just a simulation, not an actual video uplink, so static doesn't really make much sense. The original effect made more sense, the simulation attributes starting to play up.
