Cheers!
I think it's possible, but unfortunately because the game relies heavily on digital input I don't think it would work very well. Yes, you could make the game function using onscreen buttons but most games that do that suffer for it. Buttons need to be tactile.
I have a few ideas for this still however, and I might get around to it some day.

I think an analogue stick at the bottom left for movement, with a shoot button at the bottom right would work rather elegantly. The contruction would all be drag-and-drop with your finger, and zooming in/out would work just as it does on anything the iPod/Pad has.
Not sure how easy it would be to just export the whole thing into Coco, but i've yet to reach the iPod development part of my Games Programming course. I'll get back to you in six months on that XD

I'm not sure that the iPod Touch is really the best platform. I don't think that CF would feel as good on a small screen. However, the big-screened iPad is much better for conveying the utter hugeness of space. For me, CPF is best played on the biggest size screen possible, although at the same time, a handheld version would be great.

It'd certainly boost the popularity. I'm pretty sure that the only reason there are so few supporter accounts is because there are lots of people who haven't found it yet and would sign up.

Captain imposter could be played easily on a mobile divice, now that I think about it. With controls so that the ship follows your finger, a tap for shooting, and a double tap to copy an enemy. With a bit of attention (and funds) from the mobile gaming community, CF could have a lot more room to grow.

Hmm. What about Steam Greenlight? Would that be a good idea?
