Yeah, mobile would be cool. I was thinking about an Android app, rather than iphone, but both would be nice. Imagine playing successor on a bigass tablet, moving blocks with fingers and such!

iPad would definitely work. CptForever is best played over bigger screens, i find. Only problem is, the touch screen may not be intuitive with the whole vmeds styling of jameson. But just plain old CptForever would actually be pretty good.

So whats the porbability of this accuattly happening. Honestly, I have no idea. It depends on: - What time I can find for it
- Whether prototypes for it work out
- Whether I ever get my hands on some testing hardware
Right now I don't have time, the prototypes are okay but would be better on a tablet than a phone, and I don't have any testing hardware. Sorry, I really can't give a good answer to this just yet.

The Captain Forever games are all written in AS3, which runs in flash.
I've ported the original game to Haxe, which can compile to flash, iOS, Android, native applications, and a few other targets. It's pretty cool but unfortunately still a bit flakey, so I haven't used it for any releases yet.

I picked up AS3 by putting in a few hours here and there, but for the most part it's not very different to using any other high level programming language. Most of the work is in learning the API.
So, if you're interested in programming then don't worry too much about where you start. Just start somewhere, and most of the concepts will carry over to other environments.

I had an idea for putting this on the market in app stores you don't necessarily have to put the game in the app. You can just do some thing like Haloway point and just put statistics, trailers and other cool stuff. Also allow people to make an in app purchase of a supporter account which would make it much easier to buy supporter accounts for people that don't want to make a pay pale account just to buy the game.

I think that the captain forever would be great on iPad, but it'd be better if you could download a client onto your computer, and host a server for you and your friends to play on together.
