ps3 owners, did you guys get this game for free (after infamous lol)?
been playing at my friends house... twas mighty fine. I say that the world is in need of more arcade-y space games.
obviously, though, captain forever needs flamethrowers.

flamethrowers dont actually work in space ...
however a new kind of rocket motor (ion impulse drive ) would be nice for serious top speed escape ....

Fun fact: Ion drives are, in a sense, incredibly slow. Dawn, a relatively recent space probe, takes over 4 days to accelerate by 100km/h. What makes ion drives useful isn't their thrust, but their high propellant efficiency. They can't provide much thrust, but they can sustain it over an incredible length of time.
Back on topic, I haven't played much Super Stardust HD but I spent some time with the 1995 Amiga version.

I like the idea of the ion drive, except I think of it as a way to traverse great distances instead of as a means to escape. It could be like the opposite of the sprint booster; it would start out at low thrust, but as it fires its thrust would slowly increase, allowing you to eventually go much faster than if you used conventional/sprint boosters. I know this isn't exactly how ion drives work, but the idea would remain the same; slow acceleration, but very high top speed. Also, it would allow me to just hold the movement keys, instead of having to spam them like I would with sprint boosters.
(Sorry for the offtopic-ness of this post)

Yeah, I wonder if an ion drive should be in TDS Build 9! What do you think, Farbs?
