So I've been binge-watching Star Trek way too much and I decided that Captain Successor doesn't satisfy my cravings. I feel like playing a long-term game and this one seemed like the perfect one.
However, despite how many times I've tried I still seem to struggle with playing this game. I'm not sure why, but I just keep getting unlucky with the oxygen system. Is there a set path I'm meant to follow to get onto my feet?
Furthermore, can someone explain the functions of all the new modules to me? A lot of them are confusing me and I'm not sure how they work. It's also really hard to tell the different ranks apart.
And lastly, are there any tips about ship building that I should know? I can't say I've been playing the games of the Captain Forever series for that long to begin with and anything will help, especially when I'm playing Dawnstar.

All of the new modules can be explained in Ozzatron file MODREF.RTF (link is in his post signature) There is no set path for oxygen... what I do is get to a station, refill on oxygen and keep close until it gets low. Go back in, and then refresh the page. Keep doing this process until you have enough parts to progress to a higher tier (or, oxygen tanks). Ship building tips are also in MODREF.RTF .

The oxygen issue is that every single game I have to go through a wormhole and emerge at the exact same station (Puckett's Regret) and there's the exact same SOS signals, one of which I die from oxygen deprivation before I can reach, and the other is a Hotel tier that costs 5,000 credits to renew. Plus by the time I get to the scrapper, the ships that spawn are already too high for its tier. Is this entire game based on monotonous grinding and picking at ships until you find the perfect one and getting a menial amount of credits to do the same thing over and over again until you can renew the next station? It's not that I'm trying to diss it, it's just that I'm getting a bit frustrated at the lack of meaningful combat and exploration. EDIT: Aha! I found a little hidden Bravo Scrapyard and I'm dragging ship parts to that. 390 credits and counting... EDIT: You know, I have to say. With the oxygen mechanic it makes it a lot less appealing to replace your girders with higher tiers. Am I the only one who just does weapons and boosters? Also, when am I going to be seeing those oxygen tanks?

Unfortunately, without hacking the game using Cheat Engine (which is damn near impossible unless you know where to look, it was only 2 days ago that I learned how to stop oxygen drain) yeah, that's about it.
You aren't the only one. And oxygen tanks are very rare, but they DO appear.
