I feel just a little bit crazy for posting this on a forum that is small and virtually dead, but I figure it's worth a shot.
You see, I'm learning to program in C++ after a very long time spent using BlitzBasic, and eventually finding that my ambitions had outgrown its limitations. Because of the high-level nature of that language, I never really learned much about graphics programming, and I really don't know where to begin in C++. I don't even know how to create a window at this point in time, much less how to draw to it.
So, does anyone here know some good resources for learning 2D graphics stuff, ideally through Direct X?

Okay, maybe poor word choice. But it certainly isn't very active, but I guess I wouldn't expect it to be considering it represents a small subset of an already small group of people who are Captain Forever supporters.
Also, this site seems pretty focused on web development. I don't see anything about C++ or any other C-based languages.
Of course web development does interest me as well

Heres some advice .. instead of learning to code things, take up drinking and meth and then hang around computer nerds for 8 months in venice beach california and adsorb the ability to code from the people in your set. isnt that how steve jobs did it ?
