I'm sorry to say there really isn't - it's happened to me a couple of times and the only thing that has ever worked is advance VERY slowly if you feel your framerate dropping. If it freezes, wait it out! Once, I managed to regain control... ... As for the scrapper design, I'll go ahead and do just that! Ah, I see how it is. Very well. I'll try this slow approach whenever I notice lower frame rate. Cool! I'll be looking forward to this. Curious to see the outcome (:

Haven't put anything here in a while, hoo boy. So we ran on a massive scrap collection effort in the Goldenport area, and collected all of this stuff (everything behind the center-line Echo deck) Would you guys suggest turning the barge into a six-decker with all these parts, just upgrade the current four-decker setup, or sell everything that doesn't directly upgrade a part already on the barge?

You should definately keep the current four-deck layout for one reason: tier progression. When you get to Foxtrot, you'll have to replace /every/ part again, and again, and again. Cut the amount of work you'll need, but once you get to India/Juliet, I've found you can go absolutely nuts with your designs as you're essentially top of the food chain!
On another note, I'd be absolutely terrified to face your barge in combat, even if I were a tier above.. The amount of prismatics and sheer volume of armour on your ships is nothing short of insane! I've always thought my "sponson" layout was a bit much - the ship design with side-baring 'wings' that act as a shield to the main spine of the craft. This is easily the most heavy-duty craft I've seen.
One thing to do is find more repair modules - on ships this colossal, repair modules act as awesome junctions for armour-plating, for example imagine on the centre of a deck plate you add a repair module, then two girders (or trusses) to the sides, and a planck shield on the top - you've got a really sturdy outer layer!

I've taken quite some liking in the newest version of Captain Jameson. For now I've reached Echo-tier and found some of these new Lances. I temporarily attached them so I could go to a scrapyard and edit my ship, when I noticed how I had created some sort of mecha. thyperez.tumblr.com/image/83820248308 Notice the fingers, the hand. I thought it looked funny, but I might actually take this in use somewhere in the future. I don't see a problem with them, except that they are completely defenseless and particularly fragile compared to the Ramming Spikes. Also, the are brilliant for mining, too! Hurray! EDIT: Speaking about mechas, hinge/rotator/motor modules would be awesome if you ever were to create a real mecha!

This is what my ships usually come out looking like. One tier at the beginning of the game, two by mid-game, and three towards end-game. My only issue is that the bubble shield doesn't QUITE cover the outer thrusters. Everything not lit up as Juliet, what's lit up is India, and those two transrotators are Golf. Now if I could just upgrade those parts, maybe find another chrono-gear or two...

www.mediafire.com/?kdhrm52rwqbas5a - Remember that 0.5.1 barge I built up? Since I've moved on more to the Dawn Star builds, I figured I might as well see what you guys could make of it! So here's the save game. Speaking of Dawn Star builds... This is probably, uh, the front 1/3rd of the ship that I'm planning to build. Still kicks butt though xD

Front third of the ship you plan to build? Wow, that's ambitious... that ship in the screenshot is about as big as I'd ever build anything. I don't see the practicality beyond that point.

Progress made! I'm still trying to get decks, which is kind of stifling progress. Thinking of naming this thing "Thanatos". Thoughts?

That's mega!
Call it Terminus, because, heh, you'll be somewhat TERMINAL after meeting it. Heh. Heh-heh.
You should add more decks. Also, Bubble Shields will be absolutely essential there.

Here I am, just reworking my trash ship -- literally scrap ship -- after a crucial situation in unknown territory. Then I stumble upon the forum and see this overlord shuttle which surely brings absolute destruction to all hostiles. Man, I'm just gaping -- I do not think I have ever seen a ship that big. "It's mega," Foohman says, and I certainly agree. Ugh, imagine meeting this. I'd say this would've been the perfect boss battle ship.
It looks to have a few fragile parts in the front and in the back, however, it also looks like your repair tools will take care of any damage caused to your griders and trusses. Amazing work, this vessel!

Pfft, my ship would outmaneuver that behemoth any day. That's what I mean when I say that size isn't always practical. But this is an "awesome looks" contest, not a "who would win" contest, and it should stay that way.

MY 0.6.1 ship is BIG and MANEUVERABLE. So hnyeh.

You want decks? I'll give you decks. So yeah, minor updates to Thanatos/Terminus/WOMBO COMBO/whatever its name is. Boosters are becoming a significant problem, but it should be decently maneuverable when it's fully boostered.

If rotation is a problem you could move the lateral thrusters from near your core out to the fore and aft of your ship. Since torque is proportional to the displacement from the center of rotation that should make a big difference.

Try to find some MK.II boosters. They'll surely advance your maneuverability by quite some bit.

Mk2 boosters seem to be hard to find in Juliet level in build 6, so I'm not sure if I can do that. xD Some more minor updates. Clocks in at just above 10,000 tons. Much faster beast now, the current plan is to get all the plancks on repair mods, finish replacing girders with trusses where possible, get more boosters, and when the ship can handle the weight add on more decks to extend the ship's length.
