The ability to move specific parts of one's ship at the press of a button would be quite handy. For example, a rotating joint shaped like a modified translocator/transrotator that allows someone to connect two modules together. It would allow the attached module to swivel at the press of a button. For another example, a piston joint or extending joint that extends a specific block length depending on class. This would be initiated by pressing a specified button as well. Here is a quick picture of my ideas. I compared the mew module types to some we are all familiar with.

This could actually be useful, Making complex ship designs that, with a push of a button, suddenly reveals a new set of weapons / shields.
I also see that you've captured the artstyle perfectly.

I like this idea as well.
The piston force and rotator torque could also scale with class.

Ah, so instead of levelling up its size, it instead levels up how fast/how much it can push/pull?

Yeah I was thinking something like a ramming spike hammer for starters!
Thanks ;D

Ah, so instead of levelling up its size, it instead levels up how fast/how much it can push/pull? What I had in mind was that each class piston would match the size of truss in the same class. Also, it would extend one block less than its total length. For example, if the piston is 4 blocks long then it will extend an additional 3 blocks.

For example, if the piston is 4 blocks long then it will extend an additional 3 blocks. So it would completely disregard the weight that it has to push/pull/rotate and move at a set speed?

ah, I was suggesting that both size and force could scale with class, instead of just one or the other.
It would be cool if the push/rotate speed was affected by the chronogear.

So it would completely disregard the weight that it has to push/pull/rotate and move at a set speed? I hadn't thought of that yet. Yes, things would be different when a lot of weight is being extended or rotated. It would have to have limitations similar to that of the translocator/transrotator I would imagine.

I made a suggestion quite a while ago for a loose joint module. Just like attaching a trailer to back of a truck. Not manually controllable, but having its own momentum from the thrust of the ship. With it, I can imagine making a ship just like an octopus. Make tentacles out of strings of Joint Modules, and put lasers at the very end of them. Run away from your opponent to make the tentacles swing backwards so that you can shoot... I'm rambling

Somebody's trying to turn this forum into his old IB forum a bit too much.. haha
Honestly though I love this idea as well, and as vaconcovat said you captured the artstyle flawlessly, +1

I like the idea, but it would be hard to implement, most likely.
Right now the ships' modules are always lined up at ether a 0, 90, 180, or 270 angle to the root of the node-tree. Allowing dynamic angles would make the code that checks for collisions, and probably other parts, need to be completely rewritten.
Or I might be over-exaggerating this. Keep in mind that I've never seen the code or worked in flash.

Those pistons are brilliant - I'm guessing that was inspired by Minecraft? It'd be fantastic if you could change the delay between the button press and the activation of certain pistons - it'd let you develop a massive ship with a big area which can fold itself in to fit into gaps in asteroids.

And yeah, MS paint can be extremely useful for things other than just rage comics, lol. Those pistons are brilliant - I'm guessing that was inspired by Minecraft? Actually, the idea is from a sandbox building game called Incredibots. Capnderp and I were really involved in IB in the past, but have since moved on from it. The game is wonderful and has amazing potential, but the community pretty much annoyed me enough to never want to go back to it.

Completely slipped my mind! yep. Completely possible. Im on board now!
