Hi,
I thought I'd just get something on the go! Look forward to a wealth of suggestions.
Edit: Alpha just went up! Loving the Vmeds system already!

Oh great! Any luck making progress in the game? The first few minutes are pretty rough. I tried to cover it in the FAQ but it might be best to work from a tutorial.

I'm just getting into it - it took me a minute to realise that I'd turned off the ships/asteroids/ stuff in the map screen when I was playing with the Vmeds stuff.
I did try and go hell for leather like Forever at first, which I can see is not the sensible approach, I'm settling in now =D
Edit: I understand the message about docking now (I was thinking disconnect in the sense of quit VMeds, rather than the game /facepalms!) I was being daft =D
VMeds is awesome, I'm already comfortable with keys to do things I want! I'm absolutely in love with the docking/landing strip animation. Seeing a ship run out of Oxygen is one of the saddest things I've ever seen!

Ah, interesting. I actually turn off the vessel and unknown map layers by default to help people comprehend the map and find oxygen. I'm still on the fence as to whether this is a good idea.

Ah, I see; I like the map exporting, I'll try and post a summary of my first few flights in a bit =D

Well, I've been trying for 10 minutes now and I can't seem to get an oxygen station running. I die out of lack of oxygen because I either can't find one or I die in the middle of fighting the jammer ship thing. Maybe slowing the oxygen loss rate a little?

Thanks mammalcolm. The first few minutes are definitely very tough. There's a lot to learn, and without it you're going to die very quickly.
If you don't mind me asking, did you read any of the help files? Specifically the FAQ?
Spoiler: What you need to do, once you launch, is fly to an oxygen station. This is not the station you launch from. You'll start in a cluster of four stations, and one will have the letters OXY emblazoned across the side. Fly up to this, then hit TAB to open VMEDS and use it to connect to the oxy station. The rest is pretty self explanatory.

Oh. Thanks. And I had no idea there was a FAQ :/ imma go read it
Edit: What does cruise control do? I seems to make me crash into asteroids.

Haha, yes it'll do that. Originally it just held down the W key for you. Later I made it compress time so you don't have to wait so long on an uneventful voyage. Then I made it fuzzy. If you want to die an oxy death sooner just hit the cruise control and plant your face into an asteroid
