Auburn, personally I would sacrifice your mobility in favour of defence and lateral weaponry - try bulking out the 'spine' of your ship, and adding a couple of prismatics on the side. Compensate with some Uniboosters, and you won't regret the upgrade!
Kirana - I like it! I'd love to see the finished product, and you'd do well to sit around your current sector and upgrade your ship so it is universally Charlie-tier at least, and I see where Auburn is coming from - while you can soak up damage on your corners, you're severely vulnerable on the sides, especially if that truss that hold the planck shield is knocked out, you're utterly screwed! In my opinion, try bulking up the armour there!

Well, the plan for the ship is as follows.
In order of priority...
-Get more snipe lasers for on the front to counteract the spread and to increase firepower -Add a second truss layer on the sides and pile on shields -Add broadside firepower -Put the decks on repair modules -Try and solve the turning problem -If Delta or higher ships are killed, begin making two-layer girder armor supported by repair modules -Get more auxillaries -Get more chronos. I think 5 is enough for now, but you can never have too many Chronos!

Compensate with some Uniboosters, and you won't regret the upgrade! Prismatics? Forget it - there aren't any Prismatic Juliets in Haynesport. Besides, Sniping is a gentleman's game. And anyway I had lots of Uniboosters before I replaced them with the better regulars. I'm saving the space between the rows for the good ol' Auxiliaries, if I can actually find any!

Far to the south-west of the map is a cluster of stations ranging from Charlie to Foxtrot in very close proximity, have you liberated those? To the south of those, out of the map's range is a large Juliet tier station, between these two points are a large cluster of ships. Ships over the right of this cluster have had the largest frequency of Auxiliaries I've seen, resulting in my previous ship having 55 Oxygen. I'll edit this post with an exact location.
As for Juliet Prismatics, that's fair enough, off the top of my head I can't think of a single time I've encountered one in Haynesport...

Here we are! My latest configuration, now with added chrono gears! I've extended the rear and added lots of new engines to mitigate the weight of added Blurst shields and chrono gears. This very well may be my last configuration for this playthrough, but as of yet I'm not decided.

So those are India Snipers at the front? That's glorious - 2 Hz x 7.5 almost, so over 14 shots a second.
(It's unfortunate conventional arms don't work in space - before the revolution, for instance, there was a certain weapon called the Minigun, that could fire up to 50 rounds a second. Would waste away anything other than armored vehicles.)

They are indeedy, Auburn. It may be my best ship to date - it's surprisingly fast and agile despite it's size. I look to expand laterally. I'm glad you like the design!

Here she is! My final configuration of Charon for this play through. She's tough, and she's survived many-a whacking from boot/jackers, but it's time to wrap this one up and start afresh. Naturally, I can always find room for improvement, and indeed while the ship looks formidable, it is susceptible to the India-tier ships in this penultimate sector - Prismatics, Ramming Spikes and Snipe-Launchers are ridiculously abundant, which tend to lay shields to waste, but as soon as my doom-laser is in on target NOTHING survives longer than a couple of seconds. Even the biggest ships with deckplates tend to disintegrate within moments. I've been extremely lucky in this play through for many reasons, such as the abundance of rare modules, even considering the absence of Auxiliary Oxygen Tanks. I've had few Inferno sectors I couldn't handle, abundant passive Balancers and even a few unexpected and extremely useful Derelicts hanging around! I've also really enjoyed relaying my ship's evolution on this forum with you guys, and I hope to see more of your designs and tales of your endeavours! Without further ado: EDIT: As of this post, the Jameson section of these forums has reached the age old golden number of 1,337 responses! Totally l33t etc awesomeface.jpg

Welp, the Charon couldn't even be destroyed by a swarm of ships, I instead asphyxiated before I could return to a safe haven (if only to return without rebuilding my ship) I think I killed at least ten ships, but those that hit my flank dealt the most damage! I'll post screenshots soon!

This barge is certainly turning into a monster of a ship! Sure, it takes about half a minute to turn, but the front half is essentially a blender and there's double-layered girders all over. We're currently working on upgrading the propulsion and getting some broadside guns. Primarily the propulsion, since about a minute after this was taken the ship got circled by some crazy-fast sprint boosting Echo ship and got the left side torn up real bad. I swear, some AI seem like they're actively exploiting your weaknesses.

Blimey that's getting huge! Fill in the gaps on the decks with uniboosters and upgrade every engine the best you can - there's still some Bravo engines that probably do exactly jack! but otherwise I'd hate to be on the receiving end of those snipe launchers!
As for the AI, I'm inclined to agree!

Well, just so you know, that ship weighs 1500 tons and is 62 meters (in imperial, over 200 feet) long.
Since the last image, much of the front-side armoring has been converted to trusses to save weight and every Bravo non-auxillary oxygen module has been scrapped. The ship's exclusively Charlie to Echo level now for regular modules (all the chrono gears, however, are alpha) There's some broadside guns now as well attached to the front decks.
The issue with the Goldenport area is that the ships there are very fast and very heavily armed for their size. Not ideal territory for flying a barge like this!

1724 tons of barge, right here. Definitely broken into Tier 2 now - The only Tier 1 modules left on the ship are the chronos, the Auxillaries (up to five now!) a few Charlie girders and a deck (plus the four MK2 boosters), and two Bravo decks that desperately need replacement. Everything else is Delta and Echo, with four Foxtrot trusses and a bubble shield. Also, my apologies if I keep posting minor updates on my ships - I tend to be a bit of a chatterbox about stuff I like!

You don't need to apologise at all!
This barge is getting to epic proportions, god knows how vast it will be come Tier 3... and all those prismatics!!! I'm guessing you basically eviscerate all in your path, huh? And no worries about flanking attacks now that you have more Prismatics than anything. I guess you're still running slow? Keep finding engines, yo!

Alrighty! Here we are, my new Deadhead! I'm currently playing 0.5.1, allowing me to fully play through the tiers from Alpha to Juliet, and create my ultimate ultimate ship for you all to see! Currently, my ship is Charlie-dominant, and I'm about to tackle Delta-tier ships below me. Within the first hour of gameplay, I managed to find the Chrono Gears and Oxy Tanks that you can see there, which I have to say is bloody damn lucky! I'm going for an agile craft with frontal armament, as opposed to my last design which was wide in shape, and had 360 degrees of death emanating from its hull, with a surprising amount of movement to boot! I'm still using a lot of shields, but if any of you want to see me progress using a particular design, I will do just that in this play-through!

Hey, you've got off to a nice start, I must say -- A very nice start, in that matter! About the particular design part, how about you try something like a scrapper? Never managed it myself, but if you ever feel like trying, go ahead. I see you're going for a quicker shuttle this time around, however. I look forward to what you manage!
Also, I've been playing 0.5 for a while now, and I've reached Juliet tier and one beacon. But, whenever I stumble upon a guardian stuck inside a station, the game freezes. Is there some way to solve this, perhaps?

I'm sorry to say there really isn't - it's happened to me a couple of times and the only thing that has ever worked is advance VERY slowly if you feel your framerate dropping. If it freezes, wait it out! Once, I managed to regain control...
... As for the scrapper design, I'll go ahead and do just that!

Minor updates. Ship weighs about 1900 tons now, and has more Foxtrot parts. It's also, heaven forbid, sloooowly becoming faster! I also keep finding myself using the Delta snipe lasers most despite the sides essentially being giant laser blenders. On a third note, the Bravo decks are starting to become weakpoints. Should I replace those with girderwork, trusswork or some other system? Blurst shields are pretty much out of the question because those things are super-rare in this sector.
